Hey everyone!

I hope you all had a good weekend at home! Dennis and Randy had a great time trailbossing this past weekend out at Matt’s Place off HWY 395.

Here is what they tell me. Enjoy.

It was awesome. We only had six R.V.'s out there and I think every had a good time. The weather was perfect on Saturday. Randy Hettema took us on a couple nice routes to and from Randsburg. The kids had a blast being Geo-Nerds.

Weather was perfect, cool at night and just right during the day. Randy led the entire camp group to Randsburg for lunch on Friday. Took the long route through the canyons with a stop at a horizontal mine for the kids to explore. After that it was off to Randsburg for typical lunch of burgers and malts. Back to camp was through the canyons again with a new route through some smaller canyons ending up on the what I call the football field on the west side of 395. Almost lost some of the faster guys on bikes when they took a wrong turn but was able to catch up with them and get them turned around. At the end, all who left on the ride returned safely. As there were not many in camp that wanted to go on the Randy challenge ride, Bill Sherman and Randy Hettema along with Bob Lovret took off on a bonzai ride in the RZRs to the Holland camp where we explored a 800 foot long horizontal mine shaft. Bob went all the way to the end where he found one of the three blind mice scurrying around. Turning off the flash lights at this point left us in complete darkness so it did not matter that the mouse was blind... On the way to the mine we traveled down Hobbs Wash which is a twisting/turning tight canyon with an abundance of rocks, sand and other obstacles. On the return to camp, went down the Goler narrows which is a very tight rock canyon that has us on three wheels at times. After that it was a trail with the biggest whoops in the desert... miles and miles of whoops. I think I will pick a different trail next time. We got back to camp fine and a good time was had by all that went.

Randy

I pray you all have a wonderful summer. Look for an announcement for a July/August ITDM Beach Day. If you haven’t been before, we usually hit up Doheny State Beach and have a big Pot-luck lunch and talk about the coming ITDM season. Let me know if anyone wants to help organize this.

The season went by so fast! October seems so far away, but it will be here before we know it.

Cant wait to see you all in the Fall for Season 9! Until then, keep safe and God Bless.

Robert

Garlock Road, April 6th to the 9th.
HEY everyone! This is a NEW location for In the Dirt Ministry. We are borrowing this site from our friends at RUTS! The location is very close to our “Matt’s Place” camp.
I know some folks (Richter, Murray) will be out Thursday night and staying until Monday morning.
The directions are as follows:
Head up Highway 395 as if you are going to Matt's Place. After you pass the Ghost Town of Randsburg and you are on that downhill stretch of Highway 395, you will cross over the Train Tracks. The left turn onto “GARLOCK ROAD” will be less than ONE MILE (0.7 miles) past the Train Tracks. Turn on to Garlock Road. About 3.6 MILES down Garlock on your right side you will see a dirt road. Take it! The dirt road heads up over an embankment. You will need to then take a sharp RIGHT. To do this, you can either make a 360 degree loop/turn to the LEFT so you can then double back to the right, OR make a series of “3 point turns”.

I highly suggest you copy and paste the GPS location below into the link below and get a feel for what this turn looks like. Either way, don’t freak out. Trailer Rigs and A Class Rigs make this turn all the time. From there you will see camp. Look for our signs out on GARLOCK ROAD, and along the dirt road.

Saturday, we will use the RUTS 15 mile loop trail map for a “Poker Run”. Everyone is welcome. Prizes will be given to the best hands within several age groups. Bring a GPS if you have one.
Shandra Zieman is hosting jackrabbits for the little kids.
Bill Sherman will be providing us with the Fireside bible Study. BRING SOME FIRE WOOD AND A DESERT FOR AFTER STUDY!

HERE ARE THE GPS CORDINATES:
35.426708,-117.738193
http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

HE IS RISEN!

Ride Report
ITD March 2012
Wether was perfect this weekend with a good turnout of 11 families. Treasure hunt for the young in heart started Saturday morning with the assembly of a puzzle that led to directions to three stashes of treasure coins. I hear that some of them were hidden under “cow pies” Who would ever think of hiding treasure coins under cow pies? The 20 mile ride to collect the coins was well attended and fun was had by all. After returning to camp, we gassed up and headed for Jawbone store for lunch. One mishap along the way turned out OK when a young quad rider followed another group off the main road and ended up with the quad upside down. After some minor repair and comforting by his mother, we were on the way again. As we were a little late to lunch, the tri tip sandwiches were all gone. We survived on hot dogs that were actually very good. Returning to camp, we set out with GPS in hand to find the buried treasure. Josh Richter has a keen eye for such things and quickly located the buried treasure and the group made short work of digging it up. The contents (assorted candy) was quickly divided up and kept several kids up late with a sugar high. (sorry parents)
Campfire Saturday night was led by Randy Hettema with a topic of “life on the rock” about building the foundation for our lives on the truth of God’s word and that Jesus is the Rock that provides a secure foundation for when trials come our way. Music to go along with the message was Petra “I am on the Rock” and Sandy Patti “On this Rock” Some of the kids in camp including Harley Edwards, James and Jaxon Kearley assisted with the message.
One activity in camp was dragging around a large magnet on wheels to collect nails. We filled one and a half five gallon buckets with nails and assorted metal. Despite this, when Randy got home, his RZR had a flat tire from guess what… a big nail.
Bill’s turbo RZR was running well and I understand that it was faster than the RZR XP that was also in camp. Congratulations Bill.
A good weekend was had by all. Looking forward to the next ride at Goler Gultch where we will have a poker run. See you “In the Dirt” next month.
